Our story began in 2006, when construction started on a narrow city plot along one of Prague’s most iconic boulevards — Národní třída, connecting Wenceslas Square with the Vltava river and the National Theatre.

From the very beginning, the goal was clear: to create a modern, design-driven hotel that would stand out — not only through its architecture, but also through the guest experience it offers.

What was once a gap in the cityscape is now a contemporary landmark, just a few minutes’ walk from Old Town Square. Here, design is not just decoration — it defines the way you feel from the moment you arrive.

Your First Impression Starts in the Lobby

At Metropol Design Hotel Old Town, the first impression is more than visual — it’s emotional.

As you step inside, you're welcomed by a bold centrepiece: the Pebble Rubble seating system, designed by Front for Moroso.

This sculptural, modular sofa was inspired by smooth stones shaped by time and nature. Its soft textures, flowing lines, and deep comfort set the tone for a stay defined by contemporary style and thoughtful details.

And yes — you’re invited to sit, relax, and enjoy. It’s not just a design object. It’s yours to experience.

Built to Make a Statement

Metropol Design Hotel Old Town was designed by Marek and Štěpán Chalupa, award-winning Czech architects who were named Architects of the Year 2025 for their contribution to modern urban design.

Their vision was to create a minimalist yet expressive building that complements Prague’s historic architecture — while adding something unmistakably current.

Across from the hotel, you’ll find Butterflies by David Černý, a striking kinetic art installation covering the historic Máj department store. Just a few steps away stands another local legend: the moving sculpture Head of Franz Kafka by Černý — a modern icon of the city.

Here on Národní třída, design doesn’t stop at the hotel door. It continues around you.

Stay Where Design Leads the Way

At Metropol Design Hotel Old Town, aesthetics extend beyond the lobby — into every room and hallway. Interiors follow the same philosophy as the building itself: clean lines, natural light, and carefully chosen materials that create a sense of calm and clarity.

Guest rooms combine minimalist design with comfort and function. From custom furniture to soft lighting, each element is selected with care to support a restful and inspiring stay.

The atmosphere is further enhanced by subtle influences from renowned designer Philippe Starck, whose signature style brings understated elegance to the entire space.

Design here is never loud — but always present. Whether you're staying for business, culture or leisure, you'll find yourself surrounded by smart, thoughtful design — inside the hotel and just outside its doors.
